The Icebreaker Voyage

Sail aboard an authentic Arctic icebreaker, then float in survival suits — and dip without them — in the ship-broken ice channel. A captain's gala dinner on board.

Beyond the brochure

The real story.

The ship weighs thousands of tons and it climbs onto the ice and breaks it with its weight, and you stand on the bow and feel the floor drop.

Then the ship stops, and the channel it has broken lies black and steaming behind it, and you go down the ladder.

In the survival suit you float like a cork. Without it, for one slow breath, you meet the sea Wim swam under in 2000.
